The orchestra

The Paris Opera Orchestra was founded more than three centuries ago when Louis XIV created the Royal Academy of Music.

Composers such as Lully, Rameau, Gluck, Rossini, Wagner, Verdi, Gounod, Saint‑Saëns, Roussel, Ravel, Poulenc, Stravinsky and more recently Kaija Saariaho, Philippe Boesmans and Michael Jarrell have written major works for this orchestra.

Although the Orchestra performs mainly at the Palais Garnier and at the Opéra Bastille, it regularly meets new audiences by touring worldwide.

Under the direction of maestro Philippe Jordan, the Orchestra holds a prominent rank in the French and international music scene.

Without the necessary contribution of sponsors, the Opera could not ensure the ever wider diffusion of its repertoire and the excellence of its artistic tradition.
