Giselle pre-dress rehearsals
28 Jan. 2020
- Palais Garnier
Enter the heart of creation and surprise artists in action
The Paris Opera offers Arop members the privilege of being able to observe the work of artists and the development of a production at different times: work sessions, pre-dress and dress rehearsal. The pre-dress rehearsal is the penultimate rehearsal before the first performance.
GISELLE
A romantic ballet par excellence, Giselle is the utmost of a new aesthetic. Airy tutus, white gauze, tulle and tarlatane invade the scene. In the fantastic transfiguration of a tragedy, the Wilis help with the illusion of immateriality. Created at the Royal Academy of Music on June 28, 1841, the ballet traveled to Russia and disappeared from the repertoire before returning to France in 1910. It is today in the version by Patrice Bart and Eugène Polyakov, faithful to the original choreography of Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, that the ballet continues to confirm its first successes. Luminous and terrestrial scenes, nocturnal and spectral visions: dance becomes the language of the soul, and the ballerina, through her aerial presence, seems to triumph over the gravity.
The pre-dress rehearsals are reserved in priority to the members who could not get spots at the same performance for a dress rehearsal.
