The Petit Palais is presenting, for the first time in France, a retrospective dedicated to Károly Ferenczy (1863–1917), organised in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest.
This exhibition aims to introduce visitors to this major figure of Hungarian modernism, whose work combines naturalism and fin-de-siècle aestheticism. The exhibition highlights the uniqueness of his painting, while placing it in the European artistic context of his time. Emphasis is also placed on the cultural and aesthetic dialogue between France and Hungary, in which Ferenczy played a full part, both through his training and his influences.
