TOUR: Gustave Moreau Museum
Outdoors
10h30
In April 1895, Moreau asked the architect Albert Lafon to transform the family home into a museum. The flats on the first floor were fitted out as a small sentimental museum, displaying family portraits and works donated by his friends Théodore Chassériau, Eugène Fromentin and Edgar Degas. The second and third floors become large north-facing glassed-in studios, designed to offer as much space as possible. They are linked by a majestic spiral staircase. Several hundred paintings and watercolours, as well as thousands of drawings, can now be exhibited.
