For thirty-eight years, a family event has been organized around a performance of the great classical Christmas ballet!
The Opera will be decorated for the children and a brunch will be available by reservation before the show.
The profits of the morning event will make it possible to invite five hundred children from social and foster care centers to this event but also to support the educational program "Ten Months of School and Opera" by the Academy of the Opéra National de Paris
Synopsis:
One Christmas Eve, young Clara is given an inanimate puppet as a gift, a nutcracker. As she holds him in her arms, she falls asleep and dreams of a whimsical universe where toys and fears come to life. Published in Berlin in 1816, this tale by Hoffmann, a master of German romanticism, inspired Marius Petipa to create the first ballet adaptation in 1892. In the midst of toy soldiers, mice, and oversized dolls, the child's imaginary world becomes ballet. Clara's dreams and nightmares are carried by Tchaikovsky's sparkling and colorful score. In 1985, Rudolf Nureyev revived the ballet at the Opéra National de Paris in sets and costumes that showcased the strangeness of the tale. Snowflakes, flowers and enchanted landscapes form the backdrop to dazzling choreography. Guided by the wooden puppet who has become Prince Charming, young Clara confronts her desires and fears through an initiatory story.
