The Audiovisual and Digital Circle
In a constant process of innovation, outreach and audience diversification, the Paris National Opera bolsters its impact beyond its theatres thanks to the development of audiovisual and digital projects on line and on social networks, thus strengthening its international influence and enriching its dialogue with younger generations.
The Paris Opera implements an ambitious audiovisual and digital policy in order to bring a wider audience to opera and dance. The broadcasts of its productions on radio and television, in cinemas, via streaming or outdoor screenings make it possible to share performances with all.
Last March, the Paris Opera launched POP, Paris Opera Play, its new streaming platform. Open to all generations and accessible throughout France and internationally on all types of screens, it is aimed at audiences who are geographically, physically and economically remote and impeded, as well as at enthusiasts and neophytes. Every month, POP invites its subscribers to discover a live performance and enjoy an immersive experience; the catalog includes recordings, documentaries, master classes and other exclusive content that allows them to discover the institution's backstage activities broadcast live.
During the 22/23 season, 16 concerts, operas and ballets, including new opera productions of Salome, Hamlet, Nixon in China, Ariodante and Roméo et Juliette, have been live broadcasted, and for the ballet, world creation Pit, two ballets by George Balanchine as well as the Tribute evening to Patrick Dupond.
With the long-term equipment of the rehearsal studios and performance halls of the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille in recording material, the Paris National Opera plans to broadcast one live show each month on POP from next season.
